The Black Sand Beach at Punaluu

The sky is the daily bread of the eyes.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson

The morning over the black sand beach at Punaluu is so inviting....not too many people at the beach this morning and the turtles are enjoying most of the beach to themselves today.

Is a very hazy day today and the sun is just peeking out through the sunny haze. A situation called vog is created with the combination of volcanic ash and fumes that emit from Kilauea, the active volcano located at Volcano National Park.

I love to hang out at this pond which is adjacent to the beach, you can read my previous post about walking around this magical the pond here, http://noelmorata.blogspot.com/2010/05/quiet-pond-on-edge-of-punaluu.html

When you enter the park, you are greeted with this colorful placard with honu turtle images, this area is a green turtle sanctuary and they usually like to bask in the hot black sands along with the sun burnt tourists.
